New Year Trades!
![]() Starting today, it's the Year of the Rooster, or to be more specific, the Fire Rooster! The Rooster is the tenth in the cycle of twelve Chinese zodiac years and symbolizes hard work, resourcefulness, courage, talent, and confidence. It's said that people who are Roosters (born 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005) are active, talkative, honest, and loyal! Traditionally, the Lunar New Year celebrations last over a grand 15 days. During this period, it's customary to visit friends and family to catch up with them and wish them prosperity and good luck. Although I can't visit everyone here, I'd still like to celebrate in some small way with all of you! A big part of the New Year's traditions is to trade mandarin oranges with the people you visit. Because their name is pronounced the same way as the word 'gold' (and also because they're kinda golden in colour!), giving people you visit oranges and getting some back in return symbolises spreading fortune around. So to wish all of you a prosperous New Year, I'd like to trade two orange cards of mine for any two orange cards of yours! Also, please feel free to trade oranges with anyone else in the comments! Hopefully it brings us all an abundance of cards, crayons and cute animal videos. 谨祝新年快乐幸福,大吉大利-- have a happy and prosperous New Year! |
